Sam Selcer, MA

Northwest Family Counseling LLC

Please feel free to contact me at (763) 220-2312 to schedule a time for us to meet and determine if I am a good fit for your needs.

My approach to counseling is grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I enjoy working with teenagers who struggle with completing homework or daily responsibilities, navigating peer relationships, building self-esteem, or adjusting to their parents’ divorce or separation. I also specialize in supporting adults who are experiencing communication challenges in their relationships or marriage, unresolved trauma from childhood or past relationships, the demands of single parenting, miscarriage, infertility, or the transition to and challenges of being a stay-at-home parent.
My intention is to create a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard and understood. My primary approaches to therapy use Adlerian, CBT, Internal Family Systems, and Brainspotting.  Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that helps process trauma stored in the “survival,” part of the brain. With Brainspotting, we can access and release unprocessed trauma which can reduce symptoms, regulate the nervous system, and promote lasting healing.
If incorporating faith is something that’s important to you, I also offer a Christian perspective and am happy to integrate that into our work together. During my time outside of work I enjoy biking, going to concerts, cooking, and being with my husband and our two dogs.
It would be an honor to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and personal growth. The services I provide are under the supervision of Mark Schmoyer, MS, LPCC. I completed my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grace College
