Hi! I’m Nicole Rohrer, I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist™. I work with children ages 6 months to 10 years old and their families in areas of anxiety, depression, adjustment, trauma, adoption, foster care, attachment, and other mental health concerns.

In my work with children, I use Play Therapy because play is the primary language of children. I primarily practice nondirective play therapy, which means your child leads the way in sessions, choosing which toys or activities they want to utilize. My job is to provide a safe, therapeutic environment, observe and respond to what your child communicates through play, and accept your child’s feelings and experiences without judgment.

It is also important that I work with you as the caregiver because you play an essential role in your child’s emotional well-being. I meet with caregivers at least 1 time per month to support them with parenting strategies and provide psychoeducation. I am also certified as a parent coach for Attachment and Bio-behavioral Catch-up for infants 6 months-24 months old and their caregivers.

I’m also happy to bring a Christian perspective into our work together and incorporate it in a way that feels supportive and authentic to your family.

Outside of work, I spending time with my husband, our son, and our rescue dog. I enjoy crocheting, decorating sugar cookies, and playing tabletop role-playing games.
